no, you're wrong. look for a digital video 7 adapter. it looks like a
large rf adapter (l-shaped) but has a 9 pin video out. get a commodore 128
rgb cable and plug it into your 1084s to get true digital rgb out of the
iic. it's a lot better than composite. i have one and use it for
comparison with the compsite hookup. the digital rgb will give you 16
colors and selectable colored text.
