Using off-brand power supplies with a RamKeeper

Hey everybody,

I have been digging around, trying to find out whether power supplies for
other systems will work with a RamKeeper.  It's coaxial, 9.5V 1A that is
required.

I have discovered that the Commodore 16 used the same type of plug (and, in
fact, most RamKeepers shipped with Commodore branded power adapters...!!).
However, I have been getting mixed information.  Some people say you can use
a 9V 1A power adapter instead.  The Sega Master System had a 9V 1A adapter
that should fit.

So, my question is:  how safe would it be to try a 9V 1A power adapter on my
RamKeeper (which should require 9.5V 1A)?  Any chance of actually blowing
it?  Or will it just not work?
