Hmm--an unfortunate lack of technical documentation... ;-(
I suppose it would be necessary to do experiments to verify that
it uses the "slow down for x milliseconds whenever a slot y device
select address is referenced" approach. But it's hard to imagine
a generally useful approach that could work otherwise for any
card in any slot.
The speaker and paddle trigger are a couple of other usual
"slowdown" candidates, though perhaps for shorter periods.
