apple II super serial card and null modem cable

hi all,
I just bought :
- an apple IIe
- a super serial card
I already have a null-modem cable (female db25 or db9 to female db25 or db9)
seems the super serial card has a FEMALE connector !
will a simple male-male adapter do the trick ? or are PC's null modem cable
incompatible with apple II SSC card, and only self made cables work ?
