Re: Any RamKeeper owners out there?

Wayne,

How fast would you say booting from the RamKeeper is, versus booting from a
SCSI hard disk?

Is it just the ROM disk contents that are preserved when you power off, or
is all of the RAM preservered, too?

Just the ROMdisk contents are preserved when you power down the IIgs so
it's basically just a device you boot from.

SCSI isn't just SCSI. There's faster and slower drives and Faster and slower SCSI cards. I timed a IIgs without an accelerator using a Quantum ProDrive 240S and doing a shift boot

Rev C SCSI card 33 seconds

ramfast SCSI 20 seconds

CFFA card with campact flash 24 seconds

RamKeeper ROMdisk 28 seconds.

I compared the CFFA and an Apple Hi-Speed SCSI card when I first bought
the CFFA card and found they booted in about the same time.
