They don't own the copyrights either, but because they get what is now a tiny revenue stream from making disk copies for people, they have not put any of their huge collection on-line, where it might benefit a much larger number of people. They say they are devoted to perserving the Apple /// and its heritage, but they could do a lot more in that direction by simply putting the collection on-line. Therefore, I must conclude that something is more important to them than keeping the few surviving Apple ///'s viable and interesting to people.
It's not like it has all that much commercial value to have a hairy conniption over if someone does something like Asimov.net for Apple /// systems, imho.
Although "small businesses" like Apple Pi complain when someone marginalizes them by putting software on-line, it seems like it is simply a case of a newer "business model" driving out an older one. "Information wants to be free."
