The Apple III was among other things

That's hardly likely, given that the /// was killed less than a year
after the IIe was released, and at about the same time that the //c was
released.

Are you calling Woz a liar then?
That's a huge logical leap.
It's fairly common
knowledge that's what he said about the Apple ///.
I'm not so sure that it's "common knowledge", Tom, and even if it's true
that he said it, he can be wrong without being a liar.
Again, the ///, which DID suck up development time, talent and money,
was a failure, and the most common II - the IIe - was released just
months prior to the ///'s demise (which, by the way, was only shortly
after the ///Plus was released!) The /// did not prevent the development
of the //c, which was announced, if memory serves at the same time as
the announcement of the end of the ///.
Further, the /// sucked up development resources much earlier in the
life of Apple. I doubt that it sucked up nearly as much as either the
Lisa or the Mac. And let us not forget that Apple lost a lot of money on
both of the latter two for several years, while the II paid the bills,
AFTER the /// was dead and buried.
Did the /// hurt the II? Yes. Did it kill it? No. That honor goes to the
Mac.

Ask Rubywand to guide you to the exact place on
my website - it's there in an interview or you can
just email woz and ask him yourself.
