I'm game!

The interesting thing about this situation is that I don't normally
sell computer hardware or software for that matter, my husband and I
own a used bookstore. We go to estate sales to find stock (books).
The guy running the estate sale didn't even mention computers in his
advertisement. When I went there, nobody else seemed interested in
the stuff at all.

The sale was being held by the children of a retired Apple retailer
who had stored all kinds of great stuff for the last fifteen or twenty
years. Much of it was new in boxes still shrinkwrapped. There were
hundreds of people who came to the estate sale and I am the only
person who was even looking at the computer stuff. I went crazy of
course and bought almost everything I could get my hands on. I had no
idea if any of the stuff would work or not. To be honest, I was
hoping to find an Apple Lisa because of the crazy people who pay
thousands of dollars for them. I could have paid my son's tuition
this fall without getting a loan. But there was no Lisa though there
were tons of manuals and software which I sold on ebay for ridiculous
prices of course (I started almost everything at $9.99 though).

I got two upgraded Apple III's that run great. I got an Apple IIe
that runs great and I'm keeping naturally. I got an Apple II+ which
powers on but doesn't boot but I'm working on that. I got brand new
in the box old Apple modems, SCSI card, Enhancement kit, RGB monitor
card, brand new in the box DISK II's, four Disk III's, two duodisks,
brand new in box uni disk and brand new in the box uni disk card
controller, tons of manuals in shrinkwrap, a smattering of software,
an Apple Graphics tablet (I had never even seen one of those!),
diagnostics cards and software for the apple ii, brand new iie mother
board, brand new iie keyboard, grapplers in the box and really just
too much to even name here. 2 Monitor III's that work, original
Samsung or is it Sanyo monitor that was typical with the earlier apple
II's, brand new in the box monitor II, another dog eared monitor II
that works.

The first thing I did was bring it all home and gloat over it for a
week. Then I started thinking about my son's tuition (it went up
while our income went down). And started selling stuff on ebay. I
would rather keep everything but I have to be reasonable of course. I
had no use for the display monitor. It seemed such a trivial thing
but I picked it up anyway naturally. When I never found the iic to
test it on, I just listed it as is and thought maybe someone would
want it for their obsolete computer museum. I had no idea! Even if
the thing works and so far everything I've tested that this guy had
works except the II+, the display was criticized for being fuzzy and
terrible back in the 80's reviews of it. But I'm not complaining over
the price the thing went for. It actually went for more than its
original cost. Hard to believe.

I also sold a Lisa systems manual and software and that went for $390!
Holy cow. I thought you could download the software free somewhere.
I started it at $9.99 on ebay. I sold a revision C SCSI card (started
it at 9.99) new in the box and it ended tonight at $265. I was
shocked over that too. I have quit feeling guilty over keeping the
IIe for myself (along with a lot of other necessary goodies). Now if
I can just get that II+ to boot up!

Now a round for everyone!
