Apple IIgs begins to fail at random time. I tried to boot ProDOS from
hard drive at slot 7, from 3.5" & 5.25" drive at slot 5 and slot 6. It
halts before asterisk prompt appears to be unknown. If I am running any
applications like AppleWorks Word Processor. Asterisk prompt will appear
any time while I am working. I have to reboot that I can lose data.
Do you have idea that it may be due to heat problem? I tried three
different Apple IIgs' motherboard, but the result is the same. I did run
diagnostic test that it shows "System Good".
Can't you imagine that motherboard is getting very old that the
reliablity can be very less and less? Please advise if there are some ways
to resolve.
