Ok, I've learned a valuable lesson today. Sweat the small stuff. If
you have a similar story to tell on yourself or (more fun) on someone
else, let's hear it!!
-------------------
My disk drives that were working yesterday no longer work.
I just took apart and was swapping components because my ROM 03 that was
working yesterday, would not boot. Crap!
Ok, check the control panel, ok, all slots in default. ok.
Swap the disks around, none of them work. Crap!
Get another GS and connect the disks to it. It works! Crap, must be the
smartport gone bad?
Ok, disassemble the GS (btw, I love the way apple designed the GS to be
easy to assemble :), and let's push and twist all the connections to see
if there are any loose (ok, so I don't KNOW which one is which, so sue
me).
No go. Crap! Must've fried it somehow.
Crap Crap Crap.
Gonna have to go back to Rom 01, yuk.
Ok, one last look around. Control panel. All defaulted slots....
Wait....
DUH!
Startup is set to RAM Disk!!!! ARRRRGGGGHHHHH... I had done that
yesterday to load ProDOS from RAMdisk to make reboots and other actions
MUCH faster.
YAY!!!!!!!!! Ok, change it back and now the disks work! <sheepish grin>
