You shouldn't have to press CTRL-B unless you are missing a ROM on the IIplus. All ROM sockets on the IIplus should be filled. On
the original II when trying to get a system up and running try it with no boards in the slots at all. Even if you have a RAM card or
ROM card pull it out, it will still work. It sounds like you have a character gen IC problem but I could be wrong until I know more.
If you type does anything change on the screen? You might try swapping out the 6502 for the one in the IIplus and see if that works,
I know a dead CPU will look like that on power up.
