If you're having lockups after running a confidence test for a while,
they are very likely temperature-related.

As chips heat up, their timing margins deteriorate, and expose
marginal timing conditions.

If this is the case, trying to speed up your board may be a
bad move.  It sounds like something else (besides the processor)
is marginal--like the cache SRAM.
