Hi Again,

Firstly, thank you to everyone offering to help. The likelyness is that
I'll have a DOS disk with me shortly so I'm probably just being a bit
overambitious here but here goes:

I managed to transfer DOS 3.3 from the DUMP file found on Asimov (thank
you for that tip - I wouldn't of known what it was unless I was told!). It
was a slow task, but in the end - I transferred DOS successfully to my
Apple][. Carefully reading the readme, the next step is to INIT a dos disk
in order to preserve my copy of DOS (which seems pretty logical to me).

I did:
] INIT HELLO

and the response:

DISK ERROR: I/O

Aargh! -- I thought that maybe I had a dodgy drive, so I swapped drive 1
for drive 2 (after powering off the unit) and re-uploaded the 28,000 or so
chars of code at 300BPS, again to find a disk error this time with drive
2.

Although its possible that both drives could be at fault, I'm hoping thats
not the case. I've tried a number of floppy disks as well just to check
that it's not down to an individual disk. I've tried:

A known working 80 Track BBC Double Density Diskette An older IBM
formatted (but should be good) Diskette

These disks are both Double Sided, Double Density, which I believe to be
the correct format for the Disk ][ drives. I also had another Disk ][
interface card which I swapped into the apple to no avail.

Does anyone have any ideas why this may be happening?
