As has already been pointed out, without a keyboard plugged into it the
Open & Closed Apple keys (aka PB0 & PB1) will be detected as pressed
so the self test will repeat until an error is detected or power is removed.

If the speaker is not plugged in the red LED near the speaker connector
will flash each time the speaker would have chirped.
