Macs require a driver partition on the hard drive to be able to mount
the drive. Most Apple II programs won't produce that driver partition.
I believe Adv. Disk Utilities is one that's suposed to be able to
format and partition a hard drive so it can be read on the Mac. If
that's how you've formatted the HD then I'd try using something like
SCSI probe to try mounting it.

an Apple IIGS format a drive that will be recognized by a MAC. It has been a
long time since I used it.
