I do believe that Mac OS X.3 now has Zip archiving built-in. I haven't
upgraded yet, so I'm only going by what I've read, but it seems to me
that Apple is (finally) doing a pretty good job of integrating with the
Windows world. 

FWIW since I finally got around to switching to OS X, I've really had
very few problems dealing with my PC using associates... in fact the
only significant glitch is that OS X won't serve files to my GS over
Appletalk...and now we're neatly back on topic ;-)
