One thing I found with my IIIp is it needed more memory. I added more and
no problem. Everything gets converted into a picture, sent to the printer,
and fired out. In this case there was too much detail for 1Meg to handle.
I boosted it up to 3Meg and it can handle all but the most detailed
pictures. What happened in my case was most of the picture was sent to the
printer. When it ran out of memory, it wasn't able to complete the picture
or accept any more data from the computer. This in effect means the
computer thinks it's still printing while the printer is actually stopped.
