Bill:
The issues you are having are due to the Player.  Your player doesn't 
like the DVD-R format or the way this disk was segmented. My copy of the 
DVD also locked up one of my DVD players but works well on my G4 with 
the DVD burner superdrive.  (I suspect it was made on a G4 Superdrive, 
so no surprises there.)

It does play well on another player I have that is newer, so I suspect 
it is a compatability issue with either this disk or just DVD-R media in 
general.  (I don't have other DVD-R disks, so who can say from my end?

Would you like me to dub it for you in VHS?  Call me.
