"Circuit Cellar" was Steve Ciarcia's long running column in Byte,
starting from about 1977 or 78 to 1989 or so. The only real reason
to call it a column was because it was there every month; it took
no real column aspect. Some were Apple related, and maybe more important,
a greater number were at least applicable to the Apple so long as you knew
what you were doing. Though, I'd say in later years he was running more
stand alone projects rather than peripherals to existing computers.
He left Byte (or was pushed) and started his own magazine, "Circuit Cellar
Ink". But of course by that time, the Apple was fading as a mainstream
computer, and there was little specific to it. And while Steve's Byte
column was for the hobbyist, the new magazine quickly shifted to being
more for the professional. It's been some years since I've bought a copy.
