Quatsch... I never met a single person who didn't like "Americans".
I met people who didn't like US politics, but Americans as individuals,
no problem. (unless they turned out individually to be jerks, but
that goes for every nationality).
One time a Canadian in Germany pissed me off. He was a waiter in a
restaurant. I (speaking German) ordered mineral water. He started
speaking english, insisting that I could have tap water. I kept speaking
German, and explained that I wanted mineral water in a bottle, no gas.
He wouldn't believe it, and kept saying that he didn't mind if I
really wanted tap water, it was no problem. Finally after me rejecting
his tap water three times, he finally decided that I really did want
to order bottled water after all, and brought it.
