Could it be due to a memory shortage? I've noticed that quite a few apps
will not run on my 1 meg GS if I boot from the HD, presumably because
the OS is a bit more bloated.
This happens with Asimov as well as the Computer Eyes software, both
usually complain that there isn't sufficient memory, though sometimes I
get just a blue screen or the system monitor.
