A so-called "Rescue Mission" here ticks me off all the time. One time I
went in there and they had a couple of GS's sitting on their
shelf...bare-bones...nothing special. I'm always buying that stuff if it's
reasonable. But they had these GS's priced at $80 each. I explained to the
manager of the store what they were worth and offered her $15 for both. She
stated that their prices are non-negotiable. A week later I went back to
the store and just out of curiosity I looked in their dumpster. There were
the GS's. Looked like they were smashed with sledge hammers to keep
dumpster divers from getting them. They had other things in there also.
Mac monitors with the cords cut off, Apple II Disk drives also with the
cords cut off... Seems to me they could lower their prices and accept a $15
offer and make more money than they do destroying the stuff and throwing it
away.
