Sounds like the right diagnosis.

Hopefully the new supply will be in better shape.

FWIW, the old one is repairable, most likely by replacing the
electrolytic capacitors in the side of the supply connected to
the AC line.  (It is not a particularly difficult repair if your are
experienced in working on electronic equipment, but not a
good "learning" project if you are unfamiliar.)
