Re: HD 5 1/4 disks on Apple //?

It is true that DSHD does not have black, brown, tan, or white ring in
the center of each disk. The sticker or glue between DSDD's disk and ring
was too dry because of age. I was able to remove ring from the DSDD before
I inserted DSDD disk into the Disk II Drive. No damage.
I could be able to boot and format DSDD's disk without ring. I tried to
put ring on DSHD's disk. I can be able to boot and format on PC drive, but
I can't do on Disk II Drive. I can say why because DSDD and DSHD have
different magentic field that causes Disk II Drive to not recognize the
magnetic field. I have no idea why. Would you expect PC's old 360K drive
to boot and format DSHD's disk? I am sure that you answer no. It is the
same example for Disk II Drive that looks like 160K / 180K, but it remains
at 140K.
