Although I have been avoiding this thread as it is innane, I must admit I inadvertantly read this section and feel compelled to speak about these two gentlemen.

Having dealt with both Roy and Bill publicly and privately, they are both correct about each other to a point. Both are genuinly honest and caring people and enjoy being right.

Roy is quick to point out a folley and is a bulldog debater, while Bill frequently states opinions as absolulte facts using words like never and always. See the diametric there?

If Roy were a bit less argumentative and Bill was a bit less absolute, where would this discussion be?

:)

Me? Argumentative?? Nahhhh! ;-)

The thread is, of course, inane. Anyone who get so exercised over someone stating their opinion deserves to get some of their hot air let out.

Bill, as he has said, is touchy - too touchy, about MS and the PC. He's even attacked me for DEFENDING the PC, because he's so touchy he read into what I said things that I didn't say!

When someone tries to pass themselves off as "authorities" on a subject, and don't have their facts straight,

OH, that grammar REALLY stinks!

Roy

then yes, I'll pop up and give a
correction. In my experience, such people usually go ballistic because their self worth is on the line. Humble people, however, when in error, will accept the correction, and go on.

When I'm wrong - and Ed, you know I have been, no, I won't like it, but I'll accept the correction and go on. NOT because I'm humble (sometimes I can be a really arrogant so and so) but because, as you stated above, I like to be right, and if I'm wrong, I'll change, so I can be right! ;-)

If someone had done to me what I did to Bill, I'd adjust to the corrected facts, and if I thought my opinion was still valid, I'd use the corrected facts to still make my case, or just drop the subject and move on (not that that happens all that often ;-)

As to my honesty - I've been thinking really hard, and trying to remember, and I think, now, that you are right - that extra Transwarp is yours. Do you want it back?

Roy
