: There are a number of factual errors above. Here are three:

Some facts are totally missing from your remarks.

: 1. MS has always targeted the home user as well as the business
market.
: That's one of the reasons they are so large. Like Walmart, they
want it all.

No they didn't. IBM and MS were around before the
personal computer ever existed.

Oh come on, you aren't that stupid are you? MS was created for the purpose of selling the first BASIC for the FIRST personal computer (called microcomputer at that time.) Please notice that *I* didn't say IBM here. To quote you, "Read a little." I have.

Read a little, I
certainly do. I'm here all day looking things up.

: 2. IBM did target the home market. Several times. The first was
with the
: PCjr. What a success that was. The second was with the PS/2
models 25
: and 30. Third was with the PS/1 line of machines (I bought one
of those
: new,) then the Aptiva.

Again, those machines, short of the Jr, were ALL targetting
the business market. I should know. I freaking used them,
AT WORK.

Sorry but your ignorance is showing. IBM was perfectly willing to sell the junior to businesses, but it, like the models 25 and 30 (I'm not talking about the other PS/2 models) were marketed at the home and school markets, esp. the 25. As for the PS/1, if it was marketed at businesses, then why was it sold at Walmart and Target? Hummm? Again, IBM was happy to sell them to businesses, but again, they were marketed at the home and school.

: 2. IBM doesn't have 95% of the market. In fact, no computer
maker has
: even 33% of the personal computer market.

This should have been #3. DUH.

Yeah, well, I put #2 between #1 and #2, and forgot to renumber. Like you never drop a stitch either.

Read again more closely.
I said MS running on IBM compatibles.

No, you didn't. Try rereading your own post. I did. You said "IBM and MS, who have acquired 95% of the market" - you didn't get any more specfic than that. What market? IBM sells hardward and sofware. MS sells both as well. In context one sells the computer, the other sells the OS. But while MS does have more than 90% of the desktops, IBM doesn't have anywhere near 25% of the PC market.

Altogether, not separately.

Altogher what? Are you saying that IBM's OS/2 and Linux markets plus MS Windows = 95% of the desktops? If so, then say that. But that isn't what you actually said.

Of course no one computer maker has 95%, but the IBM compats.,
along with MS and other software writers do.

You are mixing hard and software again. Which do you mean?

Case in point, how
many references would you like, then I'll post them.

: Comment - follow your own advice, and quit your belly aching
over the
: belly aching of people who don't like the PC or MS. It gets
really old
: to hear your rants on this subject. As long as you read csa2,
you will

BTW, I did say he can enjoy whatever computers he likes,
and let me do the same.

: see such comments. Your comments won't stop them. So you have
two
: choices: 1) stop reading csa2, or; 2) let it go, ignore the
ignorant and
: focus on something positive or useful.

Good point, I'll start with the one that bugs me the most, YOU!
PLONK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

: Speaking of which, I need to get back to work.

Good idea. Put money in my SS account, so I don't have
to go to work with my severe disability. Thanks.

No problem, I'm exempt from SS ;-)
