i was putting up a gs upgrade i had together again after a few years and
found out two things
1) you get a device not found error on everything unless you make sure that
it is set at 60 mhz rather then 50 mhz (europe) on control panel
2) the system seems to work fine ..but
3) for the heck of it i ran the built in diagnostics (you know..open/closed
apple boot deally)
4) got the following error
System Bad: 0C000005
5) the apple tech manuals says more or less the following:
"if after running built in SYSTEM DIAGNOSTICS if anything else comes up
besides SYSTEM GOOD replace logic board"
DUH?
anyway..i have a few gs motherboards around with the keybd mod necessary for
the apple //gs upgrade kit (or you can add such) and will prob just swap it
out..but i was wondering if this error might just be something simple like
replace a chip or some such...and someone might have a fix
no big deal just curious what on the mother board is actually broke and/or
what it would need to have fixed (practical or not)
again just curious and other then the bad diagnostic test seems to work just
fine...weird
thanks for the feed back and you can post here so everyone can benifit
off to dig up a logic board ..i suppose it could be worse they could have
stated "if built in diagnostics state anything but system good ..throw
computer away and visit your local apple ii dealer
