Re: Major eBay mistake, was (Re: FA: Reference books, Salvation Supreme)

The discussion boards is a good place to go to find out about what's
going on with this kind of thing.
I'm not into music so I don't know which might be good for checking in
on Tablature.

However, the Trust and Safety Board is full of discussions of the
scams du jour. This may not be one that they know about if it's still
going on. Or folks who know about it aren't informing eBay.

I followed the Trust and Safety Board for a while because a lot of the
biggest scams are for high end items like new computers. It looks
like the A2 is not one of those targets. What strikes me is that
there must be folks who create webpages for scammers. The pages look
good and the text is full of manuafacturers specs and manufacturers
pictures. But the product doesn't exist and the method of pay is
redirected to the scammer who takes the money and runs.

What I learned is what you did - email the seller and ask questions.
If they don't answer then don't bid. There are also a lot of folks
who get kicked off and come back around with new ids. Trust and Safety
had discussions among the scam finders who were able to identify the
modus operandi of certain scammers. Amazing how fast they would shut
them down. This is the people based scam detection.

Good luck in your search.

Sandy
