: Yes, I am safe since I have that knowledge, but I did
: in fact open one once, just to see what would happen,
: and my AV software made my machine flash in red and
: blue until I chose HEAL and then it closed, let me know

If you must use email clients...why not use an email client that
downloads, but DOES NOT DECODE attachments until you explicitly ask it to?
Netscape Mail works that way...half a dozen years using Netscape Mail on
the Windoze box at work, and the anti-virus software never saw a virus
email, I never had any system "infections".
I switched to Eudora just a few days before that mass email thing that
immeidately preceded Blaster came out, and because Eudora automagically
downloads and decodes all attachments whether I want them or not, I spent
an entire morning doing nothing but clicking NAV acknowledgement boxes.
That day I switched back to running PINE on the UNIX host via telnet, and
so far, I haven't gone back to any PC client-side program.

Real Apples don't get Win32 viruses. And how many Apple-8 and Apple-16
viruses are there, anyway? (first virus I ever saw was on an 8-bit Apple)
