Hi To All,
I'm a newbie to the Apple 2 and this forum. I started back in 94 on an
8088 Dos box with two 5 1/4 floppies and finally graduated to a
Compac Pentium 100 running Winblows 95. After three years of wiping
the drive and reloading 95 every month and paying for upgrades to fix
bugs and wind up getting more bugs than they fixed, I gave up. I
bought my first Mac. A iMac 333 blueberry. I Still have that machine
and another imac and an ibook. Therefore I Don't know anything about
vintage macs.
Last week I was helping a friend clean his new mobile home (it was
completely trashed) and found the Apple 2 GS Woz in a shelf in the
bathroom and found the monochrome monitor in a scrap heap in the yard.
I figured that they were both shot but, I took them home any way.
I plugged the monitor into the cpu and both into the power strip. When
I turned the monitor on it lit up, so I turned the cpu on and I got an
apple message asking for me to click on an input device. thats as far
as I got. The only pieces i have so far are the box and the monitor. I
would like to find out if this system is workable. I know i need a
mouse, keyboard and floppy drive or drives.
I've been to the Apple site and downloaded the operational manual and
have skimmed through it. It seems that I need the software package
that came with it to make it operational.
I would really appreciate any advice or help in identifing the
software and hardware needed to get this computer back to the way it
came when origanally bought.
This looks like a very buildable computer. I had the top off the box
and the only card in there was the ram card. all the slots for chips
were full.
After I get it back to original status I'm going to try to add a few
things to make it better. I've been reading this forum for the last
couple of days in my spare time.
Thanks for any forthcoming help. Sorry for the long post.
Kenny
