The UDC controller will work with the 400K drives. I ran a IIe with UDC
and two 400k drives for several years. It also works with a IIplus, and
the UDC provides a 28pin socket to put a NSC (NoSlotClock) in a IIplus :-)
The UDC was sold by [V-tech, VidTech, Video Technology, Vsomething] and
Laser (as in Laser computer). I have 3 or 4 and only very generous offers
will pursuade me to hunt through my surplus for one ;-) The UDC also
works with Mac 800K drives and I think Apple Unidisk 5.25 drives. I do
not think it works in a IIGS, nor with Apple 3.5 drives (but I may be
mistaken about the 3.5 drives - never tried.) If using a Zip chip or
other accelerator, the slot speed must be slow for writing, but I think it
could read at a fast slot speed.
