As I just posted to Bill one site you can try is
guest.sailor.lib.md.us but here is what I posted for Bill in case your
news server misses that message:

What you want to do is, once you get the STerm command line on your
Apple II, type in:

     telnet guest.sailor.lib.md.us

That site will tell you to log in as "guest" and you will then have
access to the version of Lynx that they are running. I'm sure there
are other sites that allow this out there too but this is one I've
seen mentioned before.

I just tested that site and it does work but I didn't think to try the
download option that Lynx gives you. I believe it should allow you to
download graphics and files using one of the regular file transfer
protocols (Xmodem, Ymodem, Zmodem, et al) but I imagine it would be
fairly slow if it does work.

Oh, one more thing, when you log in it will ask you what terminal type
you are using. You need to make sure that the terminal type you tell
their system and the terminal type your communications program on the
Apple II is using are both set to the same thing. VT100 is usually a
good choice unless you are using a IIgs where you can get programs
that support colour ANSI which is nice.

However, this brings up another point. If you are using ProTERM you
may want to change some of the settings so that links will be
highlighted (inversed) and underlined or bold text won't be displayed
differently than regular text. There might be more to this but I'm
just going from memory of posts or articles I've read in the past
about using Lynx with ProTERM.

Have fun! :-)

You didn't get a readme text file? I got one with mine along with
history and licence text files. There should have been links to them
created in your "Start" menu in a "Programs" folder called STerm20.
However, those files aren't very helpful. What you want to read is
the Windows help file that is also in that programs folder and is also
available by clicking the "Help" button in STerm.

FTP support would allow you to connect to FTP sites and download
files. If STerm supported this you could use this command:

     ftp ftp.gno.org

to connect to the Trenco Apple II Archive, browse the directories of
files there and download public domain, freeware and shareware Apple
II files (SHK, SDK, BXY, et al).

The problem with doing this is that the PC would probably have to
buffer the file because it will most likely be able to receive the
entire file via FTP faster that the PC can transfer that file to the
Apple II using something like Zmodem. This is especially true if your
PC is set up with a high speed internet account. However, I don't see
that as much of a problem but the author of STerm may not have wanted
to deal with it.
