I have a slightly newer OS, version 7.1P2 (for Performa), and it
has "built in" Apple II and PC disk compatibility, using PC Exchange
and the ProDOS File System extension.  It is not necessary to run
any program to copy files between file systems--they just mount
on the desktop and drag and drop does its thing.

When I copy files from PC disks to ProDOS disks, I usually copy
them first to a Mac folder, then to the ProDOS disk, and in the
process they frequently pick up a useless resource fork.  On the
Apple II I dispose of the resource fork using UNFORKIT--a simple
Applesoft + M/L program that does block I/O to the directory.

As I was typing this, I realized that I have never tried copying
directly from the PC floppy to the ProDOS floppy (since it takes
a couple of swaps on a one-drive system).  Maybe that will avoid
the creation of forks entirely.  ;-)
