- I tried this unsuccessfully about 4 months ago, but I'll give it
another shot.
Is anyone using an Apple IIe to share networked printer(s) via
appletalk?
My IIgs and Macs successfully share files as well as a networked
LaserWriter and AppleTalk ImageWriter. My IIe with Apple workstation
card is able to see servers and share files. It is also able to use the
NAMER program to see and rename the network printers. However, when I
use the Chooser II program to select a printer, the IIe is unable to see
any of the printers!
I have tried different slots for the card. No difference.
I have tried different versions of ProDOS. No difference.
Interestingly, I put my IIe workstation startup disk into the IIgs. It
would not boot Appletalk (I suppose as ATINIT is different for the gs)
and would not run from the floppy (ATINIT error) BUT when I copied the
disk to a folder on my GS, I could run the Chooser II (under P8) ... AND
it could see the printers!
So the Chooser II progam seems okay. Perhaps there is something wrong
with my IIe ATINIT file.
Anyway, I'll repeat my question...
Is anyone using an Apple IIe to share networked printer(s) via
appletalk?
If you are, could you e-mail a copy of your ATINIT file?
Thank you,
Gary
