I have noticed that cassette tape for Apple II do not work on PC using
Apple II emulator. Most time, they choose to use WAV format like DApple II
emulator.
I have found a way to make cassette tape to work with DirectX Sound
since DirectX Sound use Digital signal, but it can be converted to Analog
signal. Plug two wiring cable between cassette tape and the PC sound
controller card using Audio In and Audio Out ports. I have measured to
match audio frequency since PC is too fast to manipulate the sound at low
frequency.
The audio frequency rate must be matched between cassette tape and the
PC sound controller card so Apple II emulator will be able to read/write
data to tape cassette through Audio In/Out ports without needing to use WAV
images or other formats.
Please feedback and comments with any ideas about sound? I did find
that Apple II tape cassette often have distorted analog pattern that analog
frequency can't always be accurate, but digital frequency does.
