I am trying to move some old text files from an Apple ][c to a PC. I've
read over the FAQ and followed the directions on building a modem cable
from an old 5-pin keyboard cable and a buck-50 DB25 female connector
from Radio Shack (i bought the null modem adapter from RS also, since
that's something i could potentially use elsewhere). Checking the
connections using a multimeter, it seems that all the wires are properly
connected and that there are no shorts.
Using the system utilities disk, i've set the serial port #2 to a 300
baud modem. serial port #1 is the printer. Since all the disks i have
are ProDOS based, I downloaded DOS 3.3 to the PC and am trying to move
it to the ][c so that i can run ADT. to capture DOS 3.3, at the
]-prompt i'm typing in#2.
The problem is that I can't get a connection. I've got Hyperterminal on
the PC set up as described in the FAQ, but when it sends the dump,
nothing shows up on the screen of the ][c. Is there any way to test the
port and/or cable to see if it's actually functioning?
any help would be most appreciated...
