Hello!
I've decided to dust off my Apple IIGS after a decade or so of inactivity
and see if I can't get it running again.
Currently there is a TMS Pro 105MB hard drive attached to a RamFAST Rev D.
SCSI card. I also found a RAMKeeper card I might be able to get running as
a boot device (ROM disk).
SO: How does the Alltech FOCUS HD card compare to the speed of a typical
SCSI HD on a RamFAST Rev D? Compared to a Ramkeeper ROMdisk?
Any suggestions? I know there were some issues with the RAMKeeper
configuration (DMA, slot problems, fires, etc.), but I recall the ROM disk
was supposed to be a faster drive for booting GS OS. Has the relatively
newer FOCUS card made any improvement on speed vs. the old SCSI set-up?
Thanks in advance!
Sincerely,
Shawn
