What would be the equivalent of that power key since my KB
doesn't seem to have one. ;-)

The Power key on a Mac is the same key you'd call the reset key
on a IIgs. Usually has a triangle on it.

Yes, I know about the auto-restart on the power switch, but that
doesn't work from a dead start. Looks like I'm stuck reaching
behind it, unless someone comes up with another solution.
Thank you for trying. Maybe you'll think of something else in
a day or two. ;-)

Ok, the Macs I've used that had a round switch in the back did work from a dead start but mayhaps the 7100 was different
