I suspect a lot of Germans these days don't know what Yiddish is,
but I have heard Germans complaining about Austrian and Swiss
dialects.
And one time in Austria I tried to buy a pickle with my hot dog
and so I asked for a "Gurken", but the guy wouldn't give it to
me. He just kept saying "It's not a Gurken, it's a Gurk'l". So
finally I had to say "Ok, give me a Gurk'l".
