having mentioned that, I notice that there is an empty grey 16 pin 
socket I didn't see before in the way back corner of the motherboard.... 
I'm asuming this is the one?

I'm assuming this adapter can also convert/save files to a shared folder 
on the PC?

augh. I thought IIe's did stuff in ascii... how do I tell what program 
wrote these files and what format they're in? they seem to be listed as 
generic text files when I do a CATALOG.
