Re: Can a DuoDisk be used in an Apple ][+ ???

Yes, all A2 5.25" drives will work on your II+. The disk II, unidisk, and duodisk are all 'cross compatible'. The later two have the 19 pin connector instead of the 20 pin plug and have both drive select lines. But either drive will work with either type controller if an adapter is made to allow physical connection to the other.

I think your best bet is to purchase a new drive and ask them to 'throw in' a controller with it. If you can't find one elsewhere, contact me offlist, I'm sure there is a spare somewhere in our UG.

Thankx,

I am trying to resurrect my old Apple ][+ to save some disk images and it
appears that the disk drive (old Disk II) is bad. I haven't been able to
find any replacements on ebay, but I see a lot of DuoDisk and UniDisk drives
that have a special connector. If I were to obtain the I/O controller that
allows those to be plugged in, would those drives work on a ][+?
