The Apple II has Integer BASIC and the original monitor.
The Apple II+ has Applesoft BASIC (floating point) and the Autostart monitor.

The autostart monitor autostarts. It will try to boot a disk if there
is a controller present, and normally enters one of the BASIC interpreters
when you hit reset.

With the original monitor, the machine always resets to a monitor
prompt. Including at reset, unless you have a really old Apple II, in
which case there's no hardware power-up reset and the machine powers up
in an undefined state with a screen full of garbage.
