I'd be more inclined to paint (or more correctly, dye) the case. I have a
Quadra 700 case with Apple IIgs innards (^_^) that I'm preparing for a dye
job even as we speak. Two good, even coats and a sealant, and your case
should be ready to soldier on, as well as being a conversation piece.
