You can also get software that will take any b&w TIFF file and produce
a PDF file with the images compressed using G4 coding:

Currently it only works on little-endian processors (x86, Alpha, VAX, etc.)
but not on the big-endian (PowerPC, SPARC, etc.).  I'm working on fixing
that.
