Do a Google search with words Ufonic Apple.  I did and got various
references on the Ufonic board.  One of them mentioned that the board is a
speech digitizer.  You can download speech samples into it and play samples
on demand.  A bit like a SoundBlaster really.  It is said it produces more
natural speech than a synthesizer but with limited vocabulary.  It's a big
card.  By the shape I suspect it was designed for the ][+ case style.
