Both PhoneNet and AppleTalk have a limit of 32 devices per node. Original
AppleTalk is limited to about 1,000 feet of total cable length, while
PhoneNet goes up to 3,000.
You can combine multiple notes using bridges - I can't remember whether
there is a *total* maximum of devices which are physically connected
(across multiple nodes).
