No, no, no. Let's let that past remain in the past ;-)
I think the truth of the matter is that these days, the overwhelming
majority of Apple II users are not using Apple II hardware, but a software
emulator on a Mac or PC.
So, when given a choice of say buying software to use on an Apple II
emulator, or buying some new inexpensive USB scanner or digital camera for
use on the other side, well, there's really no choice.
That said, these days, I've added a Mac or two and a PC to my collection.
And, much prefer using my IIGS. Those other machines are just piles of
silicon, where my IIGS has soul!
By the way, you're a little mistaken about SIS. It was never intended to
be a lynx, as lynx operates under VT-100 emulation, so it uses an 80
column text screen and navigation is via arrow keys. SIS uses the IIGS's
SuperHiRes display, and navigation is by mouse. IOW, it's more like
Netscape's little brother.
It's been a while since I last looked, but either Geoff or Ewen has screen
shots of SIS on their sites, and you can check them out by following the
SIS link on my site, which is at http://users.foxvalley.net/~joko
And, it has been a dozen years since the IIGS was discontinued, and that
certainly has something to do with poor sales of Apple II software.
