I didn't make this number up.  I first read it back in the days
when I was a starving college student who believed in the
IIGS so much that I saved my pennies to buy HyperStudio
and HyperCard in order to help the IIGS cause.

That number comes from the HyperStudio manual for use
with their including digitizer "card" - really a simple circuit
board with a pre-amp for the IIGS' Ensoniq input.

Now I too had my doubts when I first read it but when I
started experimenting with the software, I found that
26360Hz really did sound best.  Was I imagining it?  Was
it just my ears?  Was Mr. Roger Wagner who wrote
HyperStudio writing a bunch of BS in the manual?  Who
knows.  All I know is to my ears it did sound better.
