Instead of using the Monitor LOAD and SAVE routines with its autorun
feature you could write your own loader (using a part of the monitor
code) that reads the whole tape into memory at a fixed address. This
memory dump could be saved to disk, or written back with a similar write
program.

The simples format would be a raw binary dump, perhaps with a header
that contains file name and length information.

It should be possible to write a routine for a PC or Mac that sends the
the binary dump as a FSK signal through one printer port pin. This would
give you the most expensive cassette player you ever had ;-)
