Despite the FAQ's recommendation of using a serial-to-parallel converter
for connecting to modern printers, I've decided to buy a parallel card
instead. They cost less and go faster; what else do I need to know?
Actually, what I'd like to know is WHICH card to get. Assuming I get my
IIgs's hard drive working soon, I'll install GS/OS and will consequently
want to use Harmonie and Pointless for printing. I see there are different
drivers for Grappler cards, AII Parallel Interface and the like, but does
one offer better results than another? I've read that the AII Parallel
Interface does a poor job of handling lots of data, but works with more
programs (which is probably irrelevant under GS/OS). I don't think having
a buffered card matters anymore, since printers all come with large buffers
these days. Do some cards produce better-looking results, even on the same
printer?
Is one card really "better" than another, for whatever reason? Which?
